I had the opportunity to meet the extended Conti family three years ago when I decided to move to Florence and master the Italian language. One day, while scouring the central market for the best food products to bring back to my apartment, I stumbled upon my soon-to-be second family: the Conti's.

They had me at Cinghiale. It was the single best pasta sauce I had ever tasted, and it changed my life.

Since I was spending most of my days at their market anyway-I'm like that when it comes to food I love-the Conti's asked me to work with them. I couldn't pass up such a perfect opportunity: They would help me with my Italian, and I would help them improve their English. The best part was that I was in gourmet heaven. What started as a temporary day-to-day job turned into treasured year-after-year experience where we bonded like family.

And that truly is what the Conti's are to me-my second family. In the Spring of 2007, Stefano Conti, offered me the exclusive North American rights to his products, and today I am both humbled and honored to carry on a family tradition that has lasted over 100 years.
